Getting Prepared

Considerations/Physical Training:

On this trip, you will participate in a range of activities, including kayaking, hiking and biking; therefore, a moderate level of fitness is required.

Gear Details:

All equipment for the trip activities is supplied. This includes snorkeling equipment, sit-on-top kayaks and mountain bikes. All of the equipment for our one night of camping is also supplied.

Visa Requirements:

Visas are not required for U.S., Australian, Canadian and other EU citizens.

Weather:

The Galapagos experiences warm weather throughout the year with two seasons (rainy and dry). The rainy season occurs from December through May and the dry season occurs from June to November. Throughout the year temperatures range from the 70s to 80s°F.

What to Bring:

We recommend packing the following items: Swimsuit, shorts, t-shirt, waterproof sandals/tennis shoes, and sunscreen. We also recommend bringing a copy of your passport, towel, dry change of clothes and insect repellent. Optional items include a baseball cap, sunglasses with retention strap and a waterproof camera.

Airfare Details:

International and domestic flights are not included. Flights from Quito-San Cristobal and Baltra-Quito are approximately $412 (subject to change).

Transfer Details:

Transportation throughout the tour is included: All island-hops aboard a private purpose-built catamaran, Land transport in private vehicles.

The Galapagos Insider is a 12m catamaran that is being purpose-built to make fast, comfortable transfers between the islands of the Galapagos archipelago. A catamaran has more passenger space, enhanced lateral stability, and greater fuel efficiency compared to a monohull craft of the same length.

Food Details:

Delicious meals incorporate local fare and are designed to fuel active travelers. Additionally, all meals from lunch Day 1 to breakfast on Day 8 are included. At breakfast you'll enjoy the friendly, personalized service of your hosts. Depending on the day’s activities, lunch is either packed to eat on the go or you'll have the opportunity to sample local fare at one of the local restaurants. One night you'll have a very special experience as a dinner guest in the home of a local fisherman and his family. No other dinners are planned for you so you're free to explore town and choose from the local eateries.

Supplier Policies

Payment Schedule and Terms:

A US$400 or 50% deposit, whichever is the lesser, is required to book a space on the Yacu Amu Experience of our choice. The trip balance plus payment for any additional services such as transfers, hotels and internal flights is payable 60 days prior to the departure date. Bookings made within 60 days of the departure date require full payment at the time of booking.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations must be made in writing. The cancellation date is the date we receive the written cancellation. The following cancellation conditions apply:

61 days or more prior to the trip departure date - the deposit is forfeited.
60 to 31 days prior to the trip departure date – 50% of the trip cost is forfeited.
30 days or less prior to the trip departure date – 100% of the trip cost and the cost of any additional services is forfeited.
 
Yacu Amu Experiences reserves the right to modify or cancel any tour operated directly by us before or after departure for reasons including but not limited to insufficient sign-up and circumstances amounting to “force majeure”. In such cases we regret that we cannot accept liability or pay any compensation or be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by the client(s) as a result. If a tour is cancelled by Yacu Amu Experiences prior to the departure date all monies paid will be refunded.
